Dan Aug, artistic name of Daniel Augusto Chiesa, is a Uruguayan-Italian visual artist, amateur astronomer, author and lecturer whose work explores the convergence between astronomy, cosmology, Ancient Egypt, symbolic thought and contemporary art.
He is the creator and founder of the Eclipse Convergence Platform (ECP), an international astronomy and cultural initiative inspired by the Total Solar Eclipse of August 2, 2027 in Luxor, Egypt.
The Eclipse Convergence Platform was conceived by Dan Aug as a multidisciplinary international initiative connecting the astronomical observation of the Total Solar Eclipse of August 2, 2027 in Luxor with a broader cultural program focused on Ancient Egypt, Egyptology, visual arts, education, astronomy outreach and international cooperation.
For Dan Aug, Luxor is not only an exceptional observation point for one of the most remarkable eclipses of the 21st century. It is also a symbolic territory where sky, temple architecture, solar mythology, sacred geography and human imagination have converged for millennia.
The primary pillar of ECP is the in-situ observation of the Total Solar Eclipse crossing Luxor, Egypt, on August 2, 2027.
ECP explores the deep cultural, symbolic and astronomical legacy of Ancient Egypt through lectures, workshops and cultural dialogue.
The platform connects Dan Aug's artistic universe with Egypt-inspired visual works, especially the series Dream of a Night in Giza.
Dan Aug's artistic identity was shaped by a lifelong interest in science, technology, electronics, physics and astronomy. Since the beginning of his formal artistic path in 2002, he has developed a visual language based on cosmic imagination, geometric abstraction, metaphysical inquiry and symbolic structures.
His work investigates the mysteries of space, the architecture of the universe, the symbolic power of ancient civilizations and the human search for meaning within cosmic time.
